Color Illustrations; Circa 1920. This book is in Very Good+ condition and was possibly issued without a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The spine of the book has some darkening / toning, along with some dulling to the lettering. There are a several pin-hole pricks to the front cover right where Pinocchio's arm is. The text pages are clean and bright. This book is illustrated with eight full color plates by Maria L. Kirk. The front pastedown page has a previous owner's bookplate (Walter J. Baker) and there is an inked name and date on the front endpaper. "Maria Louise Kirk was born in Lancaster, Pennslyania, on 21st June, 1860. Despite being a prolific and highly talented illustrator, very little is known about her life. She studied art in Philadelphia – at the School of Design for Women, and the Academy of Fine Arts. These schools were well-respected in the area, and Kirk exhibited broadly in her home-state. She consequently won awards in both Phladelphia and Chicago, and illustrated over fifty books during the course of her lifetime."
