B&W Photographs; This is a photoplay edition, with fourteen black and white photographic plates taken from the movie featuring William Worthington, Herbert Rawlinson and Cleo Madison. The book is in Very Good condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book covers have several spots of discoloration, including a smallish spot of tidemarking on the bottom rear spine joint. The spine ends, spine joints and corners of the book covers have some rubbing and wear. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a hand calligraphed gift notation from the Knights of Pythias Lodge (of Yreka, CA) on the front endpaper, and a small black and white photograph encased in a mailing folder which shows the cave where the book's owner was going to be initiated into the knighthood. The author of the play was John Banim and it was adapted for this book by Albert Payson Terhune. "The Knights of Pythias is a fraternal organization and secret society founded in Washington, D. C. , on 19 February 1864. Knights of Pythias in a parade in Racine, Wisconsin, circa 1910. The Knights of Pythias was the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the United States Congress. It was founded by Justus H. Rathbone, who had been inspired by a play by the Irish poet John Banim about the legend of Damon and Pythias. This legend illustrates the ideals of loyalty, honor, and friendship that are the center of the order. The order has over 2,000 lodges in the United States and around the world, with a total membership of over 50,000 in 2003. Some lodges meet in structures referred to as Pythian Castles."
